My Background
Suzette Jewett–
My future career flashed before my eyes in the fourth grade. Pretty young to have your life’s passion reveal itself, but it did, through the keen observation of a reading resource teacher when she complained I wrote too much and gave her extra work. It was then, she said, “You know what you are? You’re a writer, that’s who you are.” She was right, writing made my heart sing in a language that made sense of me–of who I am, and my place in this world.
And since life has a wicked sense of humor, it nearly took me more than half my life to pursue a writing career. Life constantly got in the way, as it so often does, with no regard for one’s heart's desire. And now that I’m finally pursuing a writing career, I will not kneel to the demands of life. I will write, even if I have to continue to fight for that right.
