When I first knew and understood who I was...

Discovering your talent can take years, unless you're fortunate to have it proclaimed for you.

It was my fourth grade year, and I continued to write my witch story after my reading resource teacher declared, times up. She playfully said to me in front of everyone, “You must like giving me extra work, because you write more than anyone else.” I kept writing until I reached the end of the paper, then I bowed my head in defeat when she stole the paper away. Out loud she proclaimed, “You know what you are: you’re a writer, that’s who you are.”

I felt as if I had been anointed.

Right then, I looked up and everything around me seemed to have stilled and my senses appeared heightened. The afternoon light shining through the windows seemed to have brightened around my resource teacher as my outstretched arm still tried to reach for the unfinished story she confiscated. I urged to give it a proper ending.

It was then that I knew I was a writer.

Finding my way was not an easy road to travel but it was worth it to be where I am today, a psychological drama author and a dark psychological thriller screenwriter writing fast-paced stories with strong females who fight against oppression.
