The first book I intended to be my author's debut for the start of my writing career wasn’t the book that hit the scene. Instead, Revive is an uplifting triumph over tyranny short story collection of strong women who fight against oppression did. And I'm grateful!

In my junior year in college, our assignment in our Publishing and Distribution class was to collect writing pieces that fit into a theme for a short story book collection as an assignment in our Publishing and Distribution class, so we could learn how to format and publish an e-book with Smashwords…
A publishing distributor.
Being new to technology I was terrified. I barely put any thought into picking the stories I was supposed to compile for the assignment. Afterward, I was so nervous I forgot to edit them. My complete focus was not failing the class because I couldn't upload my e-book on Smashwords, but I eventually did with extra help. Never be afraid to ask for help; even if you're like me, and you have to ask and ask until you get it right.
After passing the class, I forgot about the book uploaded on Smashwords website. Then one day three years later, I found myself reading an old email to discover I was part of Smashwords Premiere Catalogue, which led to Barnes & Noble, Scribd, Kobo, and other retailers within and outside the United States picking up my book. Who knew those stories in my book would help shape the direction of my writing career and define my genre in the industry.
I'm thankful I didn't turn tail and run away because of my inadequacies for having been out of school for eleven plus years when facing the daunting task of having to play catch up on all the new intimidating technology. If I had, I would have missed out on accomplishing my life goal to get my MFA or discover the audience I was meant to write for...
